Running a successful event takes creativity and nerve, imagination and practicality, friendliness and firmness. This course looks at the art that is event management – as well as covering the practical how-tos, it also looks at the why.
We’ll examine how to minimise your personal risk, how to build a brand and how to creating the sort of stand out events that Belfast is crying out for.
Participants will be encouraged not only to run events, but to run amazing events, based on creative, unique ideas that will stand out in the marketplace.
Week 1: Ideology – why do events?
Week 2: Budgeting – Minimising financial risk
Week 3: Marketing and Social Media
Week 4: Risk assessments and Event Plans
Week 5: Mop up session – (Pop up, volunteer, licensing and other requests from participants)
Week 6: Site Visits across the Cathedral Quarter
Adam Turkington has been planning events since the age of 18, when he organised a teenage gig in his local church. More than 25 years on, he has just stepped down as Programme Manager for Culture Night Belfast, an event he facilitated for 90,000 people in the Cathedral Quarter, to focus on the many events that he runs under his Seedhead Arts brand.
