Meet The Resident: Sarah Baecher
In our latest Meet the Resident we get to know Sarah Baecher an artist from the U.S. and one of our latest residents in our Cotton Court studios!
Tell us a bit about yourself and your creative work?
My name is Sarah Baecher, and I’m visiting from the U.S. to lead creative initiatives across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, the UK, and the EU. Through my family’s charity, Splashes of Hope, we transform healthcare centers and public spaces “From Clinical to Colorful” with vibrant murals and interactive painting events!
Our mission involves engaging communities in creating murals that are then donated to meaningful causes. We also offer other creative activities designed to uplift children in hospitals, individuals with special needs, and adults in similar circumstances.
Any projects you’re currently working on?
I am currently working with fellow charities & organizations to bring artwork around the area, mainly with Cork University Hospital and Our Lady of Lourdes Drogheda Hospital
What was the biggest hurdle for you starting out and how did you overcome it?
The biggest hurdle was starting these initiatives in a new country without knowing anyone while sustaining oneself with the cost of living
How do you stay inspired and motivated?
Through the amazing friends and connections I’ve made thus far, by believing in myself, and trying to help others in their goals, dreams, and pursuits
What’s your top tip/piece of advice for anyone wanting follow a creative path?
Don’t be afraid to embrace the awkward journey of finding your path, it’s a daily struggle with setbacks as well as growth!
Do you have any regrets or anything you wish you had done differently on your creative journey?
I’m still navigating the delicate balance of working with others, either in mutual pursuits or otherwise, and maintaining good relationships!
Where can people find you online?
Anything else you would like to share?
I love collaborating with others, whether it’s for projects, workshops, or other endeavors! Feel free to reach out 🙂
