Some of our favourite bits from 2025!
01. Nurture Programme
One of our favourite bits of 2025 was our Nurture Programme where thanks to the kind support of Belfast City Council we were able to support 4 emerging artists to build sustainable creative industry businesses.

02. Creative Talks
At Blick we always love hearing the stories of other creatives, there is something new to learn from every single one of them, as well as lots of familiar lessons that help keep you on track as you start and grow your creative business. Last year we heard the stories of the following creatives at our creative talks:

04. One Bite Studio Visit
In April 2025 we had a lovely few days touring around different creative projects in Belfast with Alan and Sarah from One Bite Design who we met in Hong Kong in October 2024. It was like being tourists in our own city and it was great to see how much Belfast has changed and is continuing to grow and change and to reconnect with people we hadn’t had the opportunity to connect with recently and to get outsiders’ perspectives on the many possibilities the City offers!

05. Creative Brunch with Innovate UK Business Growth
In October Innovate UK Business Growth hosted an inspiring brunch event for creatives in our Hill St studios. Providing insight into funding opportunities, including grants and investment support, strategic guidance and a chance to meet the local Innovate UK Business Growth team and fellow creatives.

06. Creative Adventure Club with Homewerk
We loved collaborating with our friends at Homewerk with this new project the Creative Adventure Club, a 9-week experiment in shaking up your routine. Bringing people together in person and online to get quirky creative assignments and share their creative work with a small, friendly community.
07. Ulster University Enterprise Placement Year Retail Ready Fieldtrip
In October we also had the pleasure of organising and hosting a ‘Retail Ready Fieldtrip’ organised for a group of creative Ulster University Enterprise Placement Year students, covering topics such as:
– Understanding your Market – what makes your product different, where you will ideally sell your work, which retailers/ platforms will work best for your business
– Merchandising your product
– How to approach retailers
– How to present your product
– How to find the right retailers for your work
– Pricing your work
Delivered in partnership and with the kind support of the following local independent retailers who very generously shared their first hand experiences and insights with the students
– Linzi Rooney owner and founder of Born and Bred a gift shop in Belfast that specialises in the art of gifting top quality, locally designed products. Sourcing the best talent across the island of Ireland.
– Emma Jackson owner and founder of Hunter Paper Co an independent shop in Belfast, which sells a range of carefully curated stationary as well as their own luxury letterpress stationery, greetings cards and art prints
– Rachel McIlgorm owner and founder of Storybox NI a Belfast-based social enterprise which sources and sells ethical gifts from local makers, social enterprises, and sustainable brands.

08. Arts Council of Northern Ireland Finance Fair
In November we were delighted to be invited by The Arts Council of Northern Ireland to deliver one-to-one 30 minute sessions helping artists to take control of their finances. Taking the fear out of finances and providing one-on-one guidance and sign-posting.
09. Womenfolk
Our Womenfolk events are always among our favourite bits of our work at Blick and in 2025 we started a great new collaboration with Kitsch Sisters hosting some lovely workshops. We also had monthly core meetups finishing with a really lovely Christmas get-together in December at one of our group members studios!

10. Irish Design Week
Our last big project of 2025 was a brilliant one, working on a Belfast Design Week project for Irish Design Week in collaboration with onebite design and Future Island-Island to showcase creative projects and stories from the islands of Rathlin, Ireland and Hong Kong at an evening of design talks and popup design exhibition.
