Top Tips to Unwind from Blick Residents
Working for yourself can often lead to bringing your work home with you. The thoughts that you should be picking up emails at 11pm are lingering as you’re curled up on the sofa with a book. We got in touch with a few of our Blick Studios residents to give us their tips on how to unwind after a day of work.
- Yoga – Andrea Murphy: Murphy Translation Solutions
There are plenty of wonderful spaces in Northern Ireland for yoga, including Flow Yoga Studios whose studios are housed on Malone Road, Cathedral Quarter and Holywood.
- Dog Walking – Bronagh Griffin: Nineteenthirty Atelier
Of course you don’t have to have a dog to go for a delightful evening stroll but seeing the excitement on a puppy’s face when you whip out the lead is definitely a great bonus. - Gym workout and a massage – Kyle Gawley: Get Invited
What could be better then working off your stresses and getting healthier in the process? A relaxing massage afterwards of course! - Cooking with new recipes – Derv Heaney: The Holding Project
Sometimes cooking can feel like a chore after a long day, but finding new recipes and mixing up your dinner routine can really get your mind focusing on a different task.
- Practice Mindfulness – Kate Sourkova: Person Centred Software
You may have heard a lot about mindfulness but not know how it works. Essentially you are training your mind to belong in the present to stop yourself from overthinking and overworking your brain. There are a number of apps you can try as well as joining classes. - Taking a break from screens – Gemma O’Neill
This is likely to be a struggle for many people whose work involves doing their own marketing on Social Media platforms. There are plenty of apps that calculate how much time you’re spending on your phone a day. You can also simply turn off your phone or put it on aeroplane mode!
