Meet Our Nurture Program Participants: Grainne Mullan
Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your creative work?
I am a freelance textile designer specialising in embroidered textiles. I also have experience in teaching and facilitating creative community workshops. I recently started a CIC called Kitsch Sisters alongside of a few other women which is based in Belfast. We have created Kitsch Sisters to create community connections by providing creative self-care and high-quality workshops which will hopefully in turn help peoples mental well-being. We run a variety of wholesome workshops based around arts and crafts, cooking and events.
Can you tell us about any projects you are currently working on?
Our next big event is our Winter Solstice Supper Club which is going to be raising money for Women’s Aid. We have free meet-ups every week which are open to anyone who wants to come and join in, everybody is welcome. Alongside of this we have a few creative workshops planned for January and a retreat in February. Keep an eye on our socials for more information on events and to reach out to us if you want to join!
What are your hopes and dreams for your creative idea for the future?
My dream for Kitsch Sisters is for it to keep growing and evolving as more people join the community and that it will have a real impact on helping people’s mental wellbeing. Having a supportive and inclusive community right here in Belfast where women can connect, learn and grow together is the main goal. Creative opportunities should be accessible to everybody and to be able to bridge the gap between high quality artisan workshops and the wider community would be amazing.
