Quarterly // The Design Salon
Last week we had the pleasure of hosting The Design Salon’s new event Quarterly, a curated breakfast inspiration and networking event which has been created in collaboration with Karishma’s World and Blick Studios. This event is held 4 times a year with invited creative speakers talking on a theme and with delicious coffee by Cubist Coffee.
This season, the theme was on ‘living’ with guest speaker Dearbhaile Heaney of The Holding Project. Dearbhaile and her team are working towards establishing Northern Ireland’s first independent housing lab in East Belfast.
Some of the current issues that Dearbhaile covered included young people being unable to afford mortgages in large cities as well as the issue that with the current housing situation, property must be able to make money yet there is an inequality in being able to afford housing.
In order to overcome the current housing crisis, The Holding Project is working to create micro housing that currently focuses on young people as a target audience to help them get onto property ladder as well as working as a community.
