Talking creative hubs in Belgrade
Blick’s director Christine attended the “How Work Works” conference in Belgrade last month. She visited some inspiring Serbian co-working hubs including The Impact Hub – a franchise of hubs focusing on social impact – globally – with a layout of temporary deskspaces and a focus on industry and tech. She visited Nova Iskra where the conference was held – a beautiful venue with an outside terrace and a centre for creativity. She saw Start It – a tech focused hub which was set up to create jobs and opportunities in Belgrade and then move to the smaller towns in Serbia.
One thing she noted was just how industrious everyone was! People spent their Friday nights in their hub spaces working away!
The conference itself covered different ways of working around the themes of Space, Community & Sustainability. A particular topic of interest was the importance of transforming under-utilised spaces into centres for creativity. There were people from all over Europe and Asia at the conference and Christine was excited to represent Northern Ireland on an international stage!
We asked Christine what she was able to see outside of the conference hours and she mentioned the Belgrade fortress at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers which she thought was fascinating!
